Editors note – May

Hi all,

Happy to connect with you all through Srishti.

I read an interesting article about a student and that made me go into an introspective mode.

Almost all of us place undue importance on unimportant things like matching accessories, lipstick colour. (Oh my lipstick is one shade darker than my dress) or this dangler doesn’t go well with my top!!)

But this wonderful person who hails from a small town ANTHIYUR,near Sathyamangalam reserve forest had a dream and to reach her long cherished dream. She joined the training for women army !!

There weren’t any proper roads from her house to the nearest bus stop which was 30 kms from her home. And she had to report to her commander every morning at 7 AM!!She used to get up at 3 AM (That’s the time so many go to bed after toying with the cell phone!!!). Drive her bike through the fields and muddy roads for the bus stop. Take the bus to her destination.

Sometimes she would reach at 7. 05 AM and the commander would give her extra exercises for coming late by five minutes!! She would apologise for the delay and carry out her commander’s words! And Saranya didn’t reveal the truth about her commutation problem at all….!!

Guess who???? It’s ANTHIYUR Saranya, soon to be a captain in the Indian Army. Before joining the army she was a full-time farmer, Cattle rearer and kabaddi player. After three failures, Saranya made it to the army. She is a truly EMPOWERED woman. Now, she’s part of the killer team which has no gender discrimination.

Yes! my dear friends if you have a dream – go for it – sky the limit!

Bye for now, see you all in the next edition.
